Exploring Indonesian Rijsttafel At Java

If you’re in the mood for a broad spectrum of Indonesian fare, 7th Avenue’s Java should be on your radar. The restaurant, located on the corner of 16th Street, received a nice review over on Serious Eats earlier this week for their rijsttafel, “a tradition born from Dutch colonization of the archipelago that involves multitudes of servants presenting up to 40 small dishes with rice.”

The epitome of a slow, relaxing meal, Java’s rijsttafel takes about 2 hours to complete, but at $75 for two people, it’s a great neighborhood date night option.

Java Indonesian Rijsttafel is located at 455 7th Avenue at 16th Street. Hours are Monday-Thursday 3-10pm, Friday 4-11pm, Saturday 1-11pm, and Sunday 2-10pm. For more information call 718-832-4583.
