Expect Lane Closures On Gerritsen Inlet Bridge This Week
Late night travelers crossing the Gerritsen Inlet Bridge should expect to encounter lane closures this week.
Starting Tuesday, October 13, westbound lanes over the bridge (between the Flatbush and Knapp Street exits) will be closed for road repairs from midnight to 5am, according to the Department of Transportation. The work is scheduled to continue until Friday, October 16.
During that time, one of the eastbound travel lanes will be dedicated to westbound traffic.
Last week, the DOT also began the first stage in constructing the new Mill Basin Bridge, which will replace the existing drawbridge with a higher fixed bridge that will allow ships to sail underneath without disturbing drivers on the Belt Parkway.
The roadwork is part of the Department of Transportation’s ongoing project to overhaul seven bridges along the Belt Parkway, which are some of the most heavily trafficked in New York State and badly in need of repair.
