Expect Delays At The Hugh L. Carey Tunnel Saturday And Sunday
Brooklyn Battery Tunnel

Area subways aren’t the only transportation routes frakked up this weekend. The Hugh L. Carey Tunnel (otherwise known as the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel) is looking at six non-consecutive weekends of tube closures to facilitate updates on the tunnel’s old 1950s electrical system. The first weekend of work begins at 9pm on Friday, September 20, and runs through 5am on Monday, September 23.

The closures will also be in effect October 4-7, October 18-21, November 8-11, November 15-18 and November 22-25.

During the weekend work, one tube of the tunnel will be closed, while the other will have only one lane operating in each direction between Manhattan and Brooklyn. The MTA says to expect delays and consider taking an alternative route to your destination.
