Disgraced ex-congressman Michael Grimm was released from prison last week after serving seven of his eight-month prison sentence for tax evasion, the Daily News reports.

Grimm was sent to a federal prison after admitting to underreporting earnings and paying workers off the books at his fast food business Healthalicious. He resigned from office and was replaced by Congressman Dan Donovan.

In his first interview since his release, Grimm told NY1 his incarceration was “very challenging” and he got through it by reading books, working out, and writing back to people who sent him letters of support.

“I wouldn’t wish it on my enemies, but it’s over,” he told NY1.

Grimm’s interview was notably not conducted by NY1’s Michael Scotto, the reporter Grimm famously threatened to throw over a balcony and break in half “like a boy.”

Grimm also told NY1 he’s now looking for a job to pay off his legal fees and is considering writing a book. He will have to wear an ankle bracelet for the remaining weeks of his sentence and needs permission from authorities to leave his home.
