Feliz Cinco De Mayo From All Of Us At Sunset Park Voice!

Cinco de Mayo is upon us!  Often mistaken for Mexican Independence Day (which is September 16), May 5 is the day Central Americans commemorate the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

There will be lots of ways to celebrate the holiday today in Sunset Park today. Nearly every cantina (bar) in town will be hosting festivities with margaritas, tortas, Mexican folk music, and more.

Those with kids can join NYC Parks today for a family friendly celebration of Mexican culture with music, dance, and crafts at the Sunset Park Recreation Center (43rd Street at 7th Avenue), at 4pm – 7pm.
