‘Unforgettable Fire’ Summer Music Series (Sponsored)
When: Friday, July 15 from 8pm to 11pm
Where: Aviator Sports and Events Center, 3159 Flatbush Avenue
What: It will be a “Beautiful Day” on Friday, when Unforgettable Fire, the premiere U2 cover band takes the stage for the Summer Music Series at Aces Outdoor Patio. Arrive early, since the show will go on “With Or Without You.”

Candidate Forum for New York State seats in Brooklyn

Where: St. Paul’s Church, 157 St. Paul’s Place between St. Paul’s Court and Church Avenue
What: Join Flatbush Tenant Coalition members, community members, and candidates for the NY State Assembly and Senate districts, to discuss candidates’ positions on issues that matter for the neighborhood.

Peace Walk & Unity Fest From Eric Garner Way Foundation

Where: Prospect Park (no specific location listed for the walk); for the Unity Fest, enter at Parkside Avenue.
What: The E.R.I.C Garner Way Foundation presents a march and unity fest in Prospect Park, this Saturday Addition information about an afternoon march on Atlantic Avenue here. (Acronym stands for Eliminate Racism and Injustice Completely).

Family Fun Day and Movie Night at Parkside Playground
When: Saturday, July 16 from 11am to 5pm; movie at 8:45pm

Free Performance Art in the garden

Where: East 4th Street Community Garden, on E. 4th street between Fort Hamilton Parkway and Caton Avenue
What: Join NYC-based artists Ilona Bito, Macklen Mayse, Naomi Rose Rodriguez, and Julie Rooney, as they grace the community garden with original dance and performance art.

Basquiat Stroll in Green Wood
When: Saturday, July 16 from 4:30pm to 5:30pm
Where: Greenwood Cemetery, enter at 500 25th Street at 5th Avenue
What: Join us for a walk to the monument of Jean-Michel Basquiat. The bucolic cemetery is an oasis in urban Brooklyn, and Basquiat’s gravesite is a popular place for fans and artists to commemorate his life and give their thanks for his short but brilliant career. A tour to the site will be led by arts journalist and tour guide Allison Meier.e-up.

Women’s Storytelling Performance and AddaArt
When: Saturday, July 16 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm
Where: Avenue C Plaza, at the corner of Avenue C and McDonald Avenue
What: Join Bangladeshi-American artist Monica Jahan Bose for a storytelling workshop focusing on Bangladeshi women. AddaArt is an oral history project and performance in collaboration with the Bangladeshi immigrant community in Kensington. Come out to learn about your neighbors, share your own story, and see artwork created by Bangladeshi women in Kensington.

The Wood Brothers / Aoife O’Donovan / Hiss Golden Messenger
When: Saturday, July 16 at 7:00pm
Where: Prospect Park Bandshell, enter at 9th street and Prospect Park West
What: Intricate harmonies grace the bandshell this Saturday from a talented trio of musicians; sibling folk duo The Wood Brothers; lead singer of Neo-Americana sensation Crooked Still; and North Carolina based folk band Hiss Golden Messenger, who just announced a new album with Bon Iver.

Salsa Latin Hustle Dance Party
When: Saturday July 16th at 8pm
Where: 159 20th Street, between 3rd and 4th avenues
What: Travel a little ways northwest for this some free salsa, bachata, cha cha, merengue, and hustle dancing. Free class at 8pm, with an afterparty that goes until 1am. Food and drinks provided. For more info, call the dance club at (718) 253-0939

Pop-Up Audubon Fishing Clinic
When: Saturday and Sunday, July 16 and 17, sessions start at 1pm and 3pm
Where: Prospect Park on the peninsula near the lake. Map it here.
What: Learn all the fishing basics: aquatic ecology, fishing safety, how to use a cane pole and collect your own bait. RSVP to reserve your spot.
