Mother’s Day Special Event at Brooklyn ARTery
When: Saturday, May 7th,1 to 3pm
Where: Brooklyn Artery, 1021 Cortelyou Road
What:  Patrick Smith will be at Brooklyn ARTery, making custom aromatherapy blends and doing demos of his skincare line. And, we’ll be pouring prosecco….

Patrick will be giving one-on-one free consultations on aromatherapy for personal care. Now’s the perfect time to ask about your seasonal concerns: skin care, sleep, etc. So swing by, get a custom blend for mom or for yourself, and join us for some libations!
How Much: FREE

Bike The Branches- Fundraiser for the Brooklyn Public Library
When: Saturday, May 7th, 10am to 5pm
Where: Daylong bike ride through the Brooklyn Public Library’s 60-branch system.
What: Enjoy a day of biking through Brooklyn as you tour –and support– our beloved library branches. Riders will be issued “Branch Passports,” which will be stamped at each library they visit between 10am and 5pm. Adults and children who get the most stamps at the end of the day win prizes. Bike the Branches will also include book display contests and other activities at many of the Brooklyn libraries. The day wraps up with the Bike the Branches Block Party on Grand Army Plaza, from 3 to 7pm, with food, refreshments and live music.
How Much: Adult participation: $20; Young people 16-and-under and seniors 65-and-up: $10;
Families (which can include up to 2 adults and 2 children): $40; Teams of up to 10 people: $150.

Greenwoodstock ’16 at Greenwood Playground
When: Saturday, May 7th, 9am to 5pm
Where: Greenwood Playground is located on East 5th Street, between Fort Hamilton Parkway and Greenwood Avenue. The event will take place on the softball courts at the corner of East 5th and Fort Hamilton Parkway. F/G trains to Fort Hamilton Parkway.
What: Music, Bargains, & Handmade! Still the best deal in town! Community event with local organizations and all day local entertainment, including the Cynthia King dancers.

This is a fundraiser for Friends of Greenwood Playground. If you are interested in being a vendor or a volunteer, please reach out to greenwoodplayground@gmail.com Sorry, no food vendors. We accept flea market/stoop sale items, and handmade crafts and artisanal items. This year, spaces are $40. (Plus an additional $20 for a table + 2 chairs).

Drink PLG Grand Opening
When: Saturday, May 7th
Where: Drink PLG, 492 Flatbush Avenue, directly opposite Phat Albert’s…
What: DRINK PLG, our nabe’s brand new fine wine & spirits store, is having its Grand Opening! In addition to a 10% DISCOUNT ON EVERY BOTTLE in the store, there will be great wine tastings throughout the day from Noon onwards! We’ll also be having a fabulous spirits tasting from 6pm to 8pm. All this and live music too, courtesy of guitarist and vocalist Charlie Jones and a standup bass from 6pm to 9pm. We offer over 370 curated domestic and international wine choices (with half under $20), as well as close to 100 small batch artisanal spirits. More information available here.

Walking Tour: Midwood & The Early Film Industry
When: Sunday, May 8th, 3 pm
Where: Meet at the Midwood Development Corporation, 1416 Avenue M, Suite 201.
What: The Midwood Development Corporation, in collaboration with the Urban Memory Project, will lead a “Jane’s Walk NYC,” exploring the history of the film industry in Midwood. The walk will highlight the Vitagraph Company of America (Avenue M and East 14th Street), which built the nation’s first modern film studio in 1906, where it operated until 1925 as one of the most prolific moving picture companies in the world, making Brooklyn the epicenter of film production long before Hollywood. Bike Helmet Giveaway at Gravesend Park
When: Sunday, May 8th, noon to 3:30pm
Where: Sitting area of Gravesend Park (56th Street and 18th Avenue)
What: Councilman David Greenfield is partnering with the NYC Department of Transportation to host his fifth free bike helmet fitting and giveaway in Boro Park. Helmets available for all ages, including children and adults. Helmets provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Free Yoga Classes All Month
When: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays (5 to 5:45pm)
Where: Family of Light Holistic Center, 717 Coney Island Avenue (near Cortelyou Road)
What:  We are offering totally free 45-minute yoga classes until June 1st. They are very beginner-friendly and meant to give new yogis a taste of what we do at the studio.
