Eat & Shop Your Heart Out Cortelyou: March Madness
When: Ongoing until Saturday, March 27th
Where: Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and East 17th Street
What: This month-long event celebrates the amazing businesses of Cortelyou, while offering discounts and savings to our loyal community. Each week has a different theme, with merchants offering specific discounts and specials.
This week through 3/20, SANDWICH SPECIALS!! at Bashi Channel; Café Madeline; Catskill Bagels; Connecticut Muffin; The Farm on Adderley; Little Miss Saigon; and Salahi Deli.
How much: Discounts throughout the month.

Purim Carnival at Temple Beth Emeth
When: Saturday (3/19), 1pm to 3pm
Where: 83 Marlborough Road (at Church Avenue)
What: Costume parade, games, prizes, free pizza and drink, hamentashen and more.
How much: $10 per person; Children under 2 are free; Maximum $30 per family

Aladdin — Musical & Fair at PS 217
When: Saturday (3/19) — Aladdin Fair from 1 to 4pm; Performance at 4pm
Where: 1100 Newkirk Avenue at Coney Island Avenue
What: Produced by PS 217’s Magnet Masters Club program, which involves all 4th and 5th grade students in enrichment clubs on Friday afternoons. The drama, dance, singing and scenery design clubs collaborated on this exciting production, and the children also received professional coaching. ******The Aladdin Fair in the school cafeteria will feature crafts, games, food and a fun silent auction.
How much: $5 for adults; $2 for kids (12 and under). Tickets will also be available to play games, and purchase crafts, food, etc. at the fair.

Art Workshop For Children — Everyone Is An Artist
When: Sunday (3/20), 11am
Where: PS 230, 425 McDonald Avenue, at Church Avenue — presented by the Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts, not a NYC Department of Education event.
What: Learn how to work with mixed media and materials such as watercolors and cloth to create an art piece that suggests what Bangladesh’s independence means to you. Taught by Marvin Cabrera, founder of Art In A Suitcase, which creates opportunities for global understanding through art between schools in the U.S. and abroad. Spring Equinox All Day Holistic Event
When: Sunday (3/20), all day
Where: Family of Light Holistic Center, 717 Coney Island Avenue, at Cortelyou Road
