Emotionally Disturbed Man Threatens To Jump From 18th Avenue Train Station Ledge

Early Monday morning police were called to the scene of an attempted suicide. A man, 20, wearing nothing more than his underwear was standing on the ledge of the 18th Avenue D Train station and threatening to jump.

He stood on the ledge for over a half hour until police finally got close enough to tackle to man and restrain him, according to the New York Daily News.

Police closed the intersection of 18th Avenue and 86th Street below during the duration of the threat. The uninjured man was taken to Coney Island Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
