Electrical Wires Fall Causing Power Outage In Dyker Heights; Power Has Been Restored
DYKER HEIGHTS – All power has been restored after wires came down early morning causing 701 Con Edison customers to lose power, a Con Edison spokesperson told BKLYNER.
At approximately 4:30am, overhead wires fell and shut off the power. At this point, it is not entirely clear what caused the wires to fall. According to the Con Edison spokesperson, “it is all speculation at this point.”
To be clear, 701 customers were without power. Customers does not necessarily represent people, as there can be many people in one household with one Con Edison bill.
Contrary to what several news outlets have been saying, two people weren’t electrocuted, “because that means they’re dead,” the Con Edison spokesperson said. Instead, two people were possibly shocked and taken to Maimonides Hospital.
This isn’t the first time wires fell in Dyker Heights causing outage. In fact, earlier this year, ABC 7 Eyewitness News reported 7,500 Con Edison customers were without power for an hour.
