Elderly Woman Dies After Her Car Rolls Over Her


BAY RIDGE – An 88-year-old woman got out of her car to open the garage door. Then, the car rolled on top of her killing her.
Saturday afternoon, January 26 at about 5:48 p.m., the NYPD arrived at 115 96th Street to find Alba Mazza with trauma to her body. According to the cops, she had driven her 2018 Hyundai Kona to her building’s garage, exited her car to open the garage door. After the door was open, the vehicle rolled down the ramp. Ms. Mazza was pronounced dead at the NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn.
Ms. Mazza was a vocal coach and was excited about visiting Florida, according to her Facebook post.

Council Member Justin Brannan offered his prayers after what he called a “freak accident.”
Praying for the family and friends of an 89 year old woman who died in a freak accident in Bay Ridge tonight. She got out of her car to open the door to her garage and forgot to put her car in park. Car rolled down the ramp and hit her. She died at the hospital. Incredibly sad.

The NYPD notes that the investigation is still ongoing.
