Elderly Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit By SUV At 12th Avenue & 40th Street
An 81-year-old man, Uszer Lejtman, was killed late Monday evening after being struck by an SUV at the intersection of 12th Avenue and 40th Street, the NYPD said last night.
Lejtman and his 77-year-old wife, Diana, both of Elizabeth, New Jersey, were leaving a wedding a little after 10pm when a 37-year-old driver traveling southbound on 12th Avenue turned left to go eastbound on 40th Street and struck the couple, according to police and Voz Iz Neias.
The woman was brought to Lutheran Hospital with a back injury and is listed in stable condition, police said. Lejtman, who sustained a head injury, was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, according to the NYPD.
The driver remained on the scene, and police said no charges have been filed. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
