Earn Hands-On Experience With A 440 Gallery Internship
Looking for a fantastic (and local) way to get some art gallery experience on your resume?
440 Gallery (440 6th Avenue, between 9th and 10th Street) is seeking two interns, both scheduled to begin in February. According to their Facebook page:
This 6 month internship will give the right person hands-on experience with a small, established artist-run gallery. You will be an integral part of the organization and given projects tailored to your interests. The right candidate will be organized, able to multitask, a great communicator, detail oriented, a self-starter, and ready to pitch in with whatever is needed. You can apply for either an Artist or Art History/Arts Administration Internship.
No previous gallery experience is required, but an interest in visual arts must be illustrated. The unpaid internship (a lunch stipend is provided) also requires a 6 month commitment, 20 hours per month of weekend gallery sitting, the ability to help set up and participate at gallery events, artwork intake during juried exhibitions, and general administrative support.
Interested? Send a resume and cover letter (PDF preferred) to Amy Williams at gallery440@verizon.net with the subject line “Internship Application.” Be sure to include which internship you are applying for (Artist or Art History/Arts Administration) and your weekend availability (Saturday or Sunday, 11-4 pm or 2-7pm).
