And the “famous baked goods including our doughnuts…. are front and center for our guests and within arms reach,” Dan Wheeler, Vice President of Brand and Culinary Innovation at Dunkin’ Brands said at the opening.

“You see crew members that are thrilled to be working in an open concept like this,” Wheeler said, “building hand crafted beverages for our guests using equipment like our new barista espresso machine, and wearing apparel from Life is Good who share our message of spreading positivity and optimism.”

Taking part in the ribbon cutting ceremony were Borough President Eric Adams, NY Mets left fielder Brandon Nimmo, and Z100’s Greg T. People from the community, including passionate NY Mets fans, were lined up outside the store awaiting to meet Nimmo and to grab a cup of coffee.

“If you dig even deeper, you realize that it’s more than the doughnut and the coffee,” Adams said. “The relationship with those who are employed at night, the police officers who pull over to the curb, the family members who say ‘meet me at Dunkin’… it compels us to leave our comfort zone of only knowing people who look like us, talk like us, listen to the same music and do the same things. It forces us to gel together.”

“Dunkin’ is as American as America can get and you cannot do it any better than do a grand opening with the guys that wear red, orange, and blue and that’s the NY Mets.”

“This is a borough that has seen so much positive change and progress over the years,” Grant Benson, Vice President of Global Franchising and Business Development said. There are 140 Dunkin’s in Brooklyn alone, with 1,500 in NY state. “That’s quite a milestone. We get up each morning to make sure we’re able to keep America running on Dunkin’.”

Also at the grand opening, a $50,000 check was awarded to USO of Metropolitan NY for their Operation Snack Bag, providing children in Fort Hamilton with healthy after school snacks. USO is a non-profit organization based in Fort Hamilton that works to connect military members to their families.

“Yes, America runs on Dunkin’ Donuts,” Konse Scrivanos, the franchisee said. “But today Brooklyn runs on Dunkin’ Donuts.”
