DOT Fines C-Town Over Sidewalk Flooding

The C-Town Sea’s treacherous waters seems to have cost the supermarket money.

Neighbor Antonio Rosario sent word this morning that he spotted the Department of Transportation handing C-Town’s manager a multi-page violation for the condition of the sidewalks in front of the store on Coney Island Avenue.

The flooding sidewalks have long been a problem (see the last picture here) on the avenue and were addressed at the traffic calming meeting last week. When the problem was discussed at the meeting, people from DOT, Community Board 14 and Mathieu Eugene were unsure of how to fix the problem. It seems that a fine is the approach they’ve chosen.

The oceanic puddle appears in front of C-Town after virtually every rain storm and takes quite a while to disappear. Although today’s rain wasn’t particularly bad, you can still see just how big the puddle is in this next photo. Note where the parking meters are. Do those things float?
