Donate Today To Help Us Bring Thanksgiving Meals To Families In Need
Thanksgiving is just a few days away — as you finalize plans for your holiday meal, we here at South Slope News hope that you will also help us provide holiday meals for families in need in our area.
For the third year in a row, our sister site, Ditmas Park Corner is partnering with CAMBA’s Beyond Hunger Emergency Food Pantry — which serves 4,300 people each month at its 2241 Church Avenue location — to bring 500 Thanksgiving meals to local families this year, and we hope you’ll join us.
One in four children and one in five seniors in the surrounding community live in a food insecure household. Being able to have a Thanksgiving meal that is special can bring hope for a better year ahead. This is not just about turkeys. This is about neighbors helping neighbors. It is about being grateful for having enough in our lives, about being able to share.
When Ditmas Park Corner did this last year, support flooded in from neighbors throughout the area, and the drive was a huge success — which showed when, during Thanksgiving week, the line of people waiting for turkeys stretched down Church Avenue – and no one left without a Thanksgiving meal in hand.
To make sure that happens again, please donate here if you can! Please do so today.
- For $25, you can buy a turkey and all the trimmings for a family of six.
- For $50, you’ll bring that to two families.
- For $100, four families will have the traditional holiday meal that we expect, and enjoy, every year.
- And for $250, you can fill a “Community Table,” bringing Thanksgiving to 10 families.
No amount is too small, or too large. All of it goes to the food pantry.
