Domino Park’s First Mulchfest + Coat Drive + Hot Chocolate
WILLIAMSBURG – This coming Saturday and Sunday, January 12th and 13th from 10 am to 2 pm, Domino Park (South 3rd @ Kent Ave.) is inviting all neighbors to bring their naked Christmas trees to the first Mulchfest at the new park. Your tree will be turned into mulch chips, and you’ll be able to take some home for your garden or the public tree pit you’ve decided to adopt (they will have bags, organizers tell us). Good for the trees and plants, and the city.
While you are putting away the ornaments, see if you have a coat or a scarf or some such you no longer use in the closet and bring it along this weekend. Non-perishable food items are also welcome. These donations will support community groups Los Sures and the North Brooklyn Angels.
Your reward – feel good and enjoy a free hot chocolate from Tacocina, Domino Park’s taco stand, throughout the event.

NYC Parks’ Mulchfest this year has 22 drop-off sites in Brooklyn (see below), and you can drop your tree off between January 4 and 13, 2019.
On the final weekend of Mulchfest, January 12 and 13, at some chipping sites (indicated with an asterisk below) you can pick up mulch to take home. Please remember to remove all lights, ornaments, decorations and netting from trees.
