Dog Of The Day: Rudy
When it comes to relaxing, one neighborhood dog knows that napping in a cozy bed — under the covers, naturally — is the best way to go. Meet Rudy, the 2-year-old Dachsund who will happily sleep late on the weekends if given the opportunity. She’s been introduced to us by neighbor/her person Danielle Marcello.
If you’d like us to feature your dog on the site, whether it’s a proud purebred, a lovable whosawhatsit, or anything in between, send some photos to us at editor@bklyner.com!
PSS: How old is Rudy, and when — and how — did she come into your life?
Danielle Marcello: Rudy will be turning three in May. We adopted her two years ago from the Dachshund Rescue of North America.
What’s one of her favorite things about living in Park Slope?
Rudy knows which shops give out treats (Shawn’s Wine, Unleashed), so she loves crusin’ down 7th Ave. She also loves going to unleashed hours in Prospect Park to mingle and chase birds + squirrels.
One of your Vines suggests Rudy may not be much or an early bird[dog] — what’s her favorite way to spend a weekend morning?
Rudy will lay in bed until we physically remove her, but once she is up she is ready for her morning walk in the park.
Being that she’s a wiener dog, any thoughts on how Rudy would like Park Slope’s other famous wieners — the very tasty ones at Bark Hot Dogs?
If it has cheese on it, she will eat it.
What’s one of her most peculiar quirks?
Rudy sleeps under the covers and sometimes even uses the pillow like a human. She also throws her ball/bone to herself.
Can you explain what Rudy means to you in five words or less?
Best decision we ever made.
