Free Art Workshop at Avenue C Plaza
When: Monday, June 27 from 4pm to 6pm
Where: Avenue C Plaza at McDonald Avenue

Our Neighborhood Comedy show
When: Monday, June 27 at 9pm
Where: Bar Chord, 1008 Cortelyou Road, between Coney Island Avenue and Stratford Road
What: There’s nothing like laughter on a Monday night to start the week off right, especially with established and up-and-coming acts from all over the perform in our own backyard bar. This monthly comedy show is hosted by Brandon Scott Wolf (of SNL Weekend Update and CollegeHumor Live).
How Much: Free comedy show, but life is funnier after some drinks.

Fiction of the 21st Century Book Club
When: Tuesday, June 28 at 6:15pm
Where: Brooklyn Public Library Cortelyou Branch, 1305 Cortelyou Road at Argyle Road.
What: Join this book club for this month’s discussion on “The Twelve Tribes of Hattie” by Ayana Mathis. If you don’t have time to read the whole thing before tomorrow, then get a head start on next month’s novel, Donna Tartt’s “The Little Friend” for discussion on Tuesday, July 6. Ask the Cortelyou branch librarian at the front desk for the meeting room.

Free Gardening Workshop at Dome Playground
When: Wednesday, June 29 from 3:30pm to 5pm
Where: Dome Playground, 38th Street and Dahill Road, one block west of McDonald Avenue.
What: Free gardening workshop hosted by local horticultural therapist Sue Braverman and Partnership for Parks. Learn how to keep plants happy while re-potting them, and take home free plants for friends or your own windowsill.

English Conversation Group
When: Wednesday, June 29 from 4pm to 5pm
Where: Brooklyn Public Library Cortelyou Branch, 1305 Cortelyou Road at Argyle Road.
What: Know someone who is learning English? Tell them about this conversation group at the Cortelyou Library for a supportive adult practice group.

Avenue C Plaza Iftar Ramadan Party [Updated]

Yoga in Prospect Park
When: Thursday, June 30 from 7pm to 8pm
Where: Long Meadow in Prospect Park. Enter at 3rd street or Grand Army Plaza, and look for the sea of mats.
What: Join Bend & Bloom instructor Eric Lawrence for outdoor evening yoga in Prospect Park, during the magic hour when the sun sets over the lush tree line. All experience levels welcome. To participate, bring your mat over to the Long Meadow, but first sign this waiver and RSVP.

Live Irish Music at Shenanigans [Updated]
When: Thursday, June 30 from 8pm to 11pm
Where: Shenanigans Pub, 802 Caton Avenue, at East 8th Street
What: Our favorite Kensington Irish pub is hosting a jam session this Thursday night, in their lovely backyard. Come to drink and enjoy the music, and bring an instrument or your voice to play along.
How Much: Free to play, but what’s an Irish jam session without some libations?
