Ditmas Park Weekend Events
From rock to rallies and tree lightings to train rides, this balmy weekend has a lot to offer.
Saturday, December 21
- The Lavender Blues sing along is at Lark, 10am.
- See meerkats open presents at the Prospect Park Zoo, 11am Saturday and Sunday.
- Kids can sing and dance along with Munchkin Music and the Cortelyou Library, 11:30am.
- Join a rally to demand justice for late neighbor Kyam Livingston, Church Avenue and E 18th Street, 12pm.
- Join the Brooklyn Bird Club for a walk, also starting at the Audubon Center, 12-1pm.
- Alex Levin and guests play jazz at Purple Yam, 12:30-2:30pm.
- Kids can learn about historic games Saturdays and Sundays at the Lefferts Historic House, 2-4pm.
- If you missed the meerkats at 11am, you can still see mongooses open presents at the Prospect Park Zoo, 3:30pm Saturday and Sunday.
- Honey, Dear plays vintage jazz at Lark, 4pm.
- Bring the kids to meet Santa and a toy for other local little’uns at 773 Lounge’s Christmas party, starting at 4pm, or have kid-less fun and simply enjoy beer and merrymaking from 8pm.
- Join a musical bike ride starting at Grand Army Plaza, 4:30pm.
- Parents can leave kids with professional musicians, storytellers, and artists, then enjoy a night out with drink coupons from Brooklyn ARTery, 6-8pm.
- Join the Church Avenue BID for a tree lighting and concert at the Flatbush Reformed Church, 6:30pm.
- Top Shotta Band is at Bar Chord, 9pm.
Sunday, December 22
- Meditate for free at at Jaya Yoga East, 8:30am.
- Play and sing at Toddler Time with Mary Jo, Lark, 10am.
- Ride the MTA’s Nostalgia Train before it’s gone for the year, starting at the 2nd Avenue M station just after 10am.
- Sign your kids up ahead of time for gingerbread house making with The Farm on Adderley at Hootenanny Art House, seatings at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm.
- Try locally-made treats for free at Brooklyn ARTery, 1-3pm.
- Join the Ditmas Park Sitting Group to meditate at Third Root, 6:45pm.
- Game on! At Board Game Night, 773 Lounge, 8pm.
- The Cortelyou Jazz Jam is at Bar Chord, 9pm.
