Flatbush Food Court
When: Monday, September 12 from 6pm to 10:30pm.
Where: Sycamore Bar, 1118 Cortelyou Road between Stratford and Westminster Roads.
What: Come out to Sycamore to enjoy food in the backyard garden, this week featuring high-brow pub grub from a new vendor: The Lovin’ Bite.
How Much: Priced per item.
Summer Mondays At ZuriLee Park
When: Monday, September 12 from 2:30pm to 11:00pm.
Where: Zurilee Restauraunt, 755 Flatbush Avenue between Clarkson Avenue and Lenox Road.
What: Celebrate the end of summer at Zurilee’s outdoor garden with free beer, a live DJ, dinner and drink specials (wood-fired pizza, anyone?)
How much: Free beer and music, all day happy hour featuring $5 margaritas, 2 pizza pies and cocktails for $25.
Free Creative Writing for Adults
When: Tuesday, September 13 at 6:15pm.
Where: Cortelyou Public Library, 1305 Cortelyou Road at Argyle Road.
What: Looking to hone your creative writing skills in a supportive environment? Or share your writing with a group of other writers? Join the New York Writers Coalition for this weekly class at the Cortelyou Library, and find that writers community you’ve been looking for. (No prior experience necessary — that does sound supportive)

BPL’s Brooklyn Eagles Literary Prize
When: Tuesday, September 13 at 8pm.
Where: Franklin Park in Prospect/Crown Heights, 618 St Johns Place
What: Okay this event isn’t in Ditmas — BUT our very own Ditmas Park authors are up for awards this year for the annual Brooklyn Eagles Literary Prize! Come out to show your support and visit a great bar in another nabe.
How Much: Free event but don’t forget drinks at the bar.
Green-Wood’s Historic Trolley Tour
When: Wednesday, September 14 from 1pm to 3pm.
Where: Green-Wood Cemetery.
What: Experience ‘Hidden Gems of Green-Wood’ tour; in the 478 acre cemetery. Join expert tour guides to hear stories of Green-Wood’s permanent residents, see breathtaking views of Manhattan, and tread where George Washington and his troops fought the Battle of Brooklyn.
How Much: $10 for members of Green-Wood, $15 for non-members. Seating is limited and they say tours routinely sell out – so book your ticket in advance!
Drop The Mike Comedy Show
When: Wednesday, September 14 at 8pm.
Where: Sycamore Bar, 1118 Cortelyou Road between Stratford and Westminster Roads
What: Female stand-up comedy close to home! Hosted by Kendra Cunningham, this month’s lineup includes: Kerryn Feehan, Chloe Hilliard, Amber Nelson, Stacey Kendro, Lynzie Rogers and Matt Wayne.
How Much: No cover charge
Bluegrass Jam at Bar Chord
When: Wednesday, September 14 at 9pm.
Where: Bar Chord, 1003 Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and Stratford Road.
What: Grab those fiddles, banjos, ukuleles and mandolins and head over to the Bluegrass Jam at our neighborhood bar & music venue.
How Much: Free to listen and jam, but don’t forget the drinks at the bar.
Clean Up Prospect Park with the Volunteer Corp
When: Thursday, September 15 from 10am to 2pm.
Where: Prospect Park, various locations.
What: Looking to give back this Thursday? Join the Thursday Corps volunteers to spruce up various projects throughout Prospect Park. The corps meets at a different location every week helping in a variety of landscape and horticultural projects. Register online or call (718) 287-3400 for more information.

After the Fete celebration at The Junction
When: Thursday, September 15 from 2pm to 8pm.
Where: Hillel Place at Brooklyn College.
What: Join the Flatbush Junction’s Caribbean heritage celebration with a kiddie carnival (2pm to 7pm); Soca workout (3pm to 7pm); live reggae band (4pm to 5pm); Steel Pan band battle (6pm to 8pm); and music by DJ Boston Cherry.

Levon Henry & friends at The Owl Music Parlor
When: Thursday, September 15 at 8pm (doors at 7:30pm).
Where: The Owl Music Parlour, 497 Rogers Avenue between Midwood and Maple Streets.
What: Check out experimental American roots music from saxophonist and singer/songwriter Levon Henry; and free improv and elastic groove from Shrove.
How Much: $10 suggested donation.
