Ditmas Park Rental Roundup
With very few open house options because of the Easter holiday, we’re doing another round of rentals currently on the market, and will return with a look at places for sale next week.
If you live in one of the apartment buildings listed below, do let prospective neighbors know how you like it.
4-Bedroom on the 2nd Floor
Available: Immediately
Price: $2,799, no fee
Details: A 1.5-bath, 3-bedroom plus “maid’s room,” which we’re going to guess means it’s not a true 4-bedroom, is available around Dorchester and East 21st Street. The pictures look nice, and it’s been updated recently, but it’s hard not to be a little skeptical of a Craigslist post “by owner” who also lists several other apartments on the site. Still, could be legit, and worth checking out if you’ve got a big family or a bunch of friends ready to move in together.

2-Bedroom on the Top Floor
Available: Immediately
Price: $2,100, plus broker’s fee
Details: We’re a little surprised to see that this 950-square-foot apartment at 25 Parade Place is still available. It’s got 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, and you’re allowed to have pets, which we assume includes dogs since it doesn’t specify otherwise. So is the price just a little too high for its size, location, what?

1-Bedroom in 410 Westminster
Available: May 15
Price: $1,550, plus broker’s fee
Details: Up on the 5th floor, this is a 1-bed, 1-bath unit with a giant smiley face painted on one wall and a mac-n-cheese-orange kitchen — nice to know you can apparently do whatever you want with the space, within reason. Close to Cortelyou’s shopping, you can also bring a small pet with you to live there. (Update: Apologies if we implied there was anything untoward going on in this unit.)

2-Bedroom Near Brooklyn College
Available: April 1
Price: $1,350, plus broker’s fee
Details: If you’re a student or faculty at Brooklyn College (or, if you’re just looking to live in a private home), this 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment in a house on Kenilworth Place might be for you. Just in time for summer, you’ve got access to the backyard (pictured above). But from the pics, it looks like the bathroom doesn’t have a tub, and the rooms all seem to have tiles instead of hardwood. The agent says it could be turned into a 3-bedroom, but you’ll have to see what that really means for yourself.

Studio in 460 Ocean Ave
Available: April 15
Price: $1,100, plus broker’s fee
Details: It’s a pretty standard 500-square-foot studio, but it should at least look a lot nicer after it’s been renovated. It’s on the 4th floor, so there’s a lot of light, and it’s near Caton, so you’re close to the B/Q at Church and the Parade Ground and Prospect Park. Yet another space that allows pets, so you and Fido can take some nice walks in the park.
