Live Blues at Bar Chord
When: Friday, July 1 at 10pm
Where: Bar Chord,
What: Live on Cortelyou road, celebrate the beginning of your long weekend the Michael Louis Band playing some blues-infused Rock N’ Roll.
How Much: Free show, but show the bar some love.

Pop-Up Audubon Fishing Clinic
When: Saturdays and Sundays in July, sessions start at 1pm and 3pm
Where: Prospect Park Audubon Center, North End of Esplanade (enter the park at Lincoln Road and walk west)
What: Learn all the fishing basics: aquatic ecology, fishing safety, how to use a cane pole and collect your own bait. RSVP to reserve your spot. Stay for Family Bird Watching at 4:30pm, with Alliance Naturalists on their bird identifying walk.

Get your hands dirty at Lefferts Historic House
When: Saturdays and Sundays in July, 2pm to 4pm
Where: Lefferts Historic House, near the Empire Boulevard/Flatbush Avenue entrance.
What: Looking to dig in to the soil this weekend? Kids and adults are welcome to help Alliance educators tend the potato plot, herb gardens, and berry patches by pulling weeds and watering. They’ll provide the tools and gloves, but bring your own hat and water bottle.

Early Morning Bird Walk: Taking Wing
When: Sunday July 3, from, 8am to 9am
Where: Prospect Park Audubon Center
What: This is the time of year when young birds outnumber adult birds. Join the Prospect Park Alliance in search of fledglings as they test their wings! And remember, the early bird catches the worm — the tour, lead by the Brooklyn Bird Club, leaves at 8am sharp.

America Garden Party at Sycamore
When: Monday, July 4 from 3pm to 9pm
Where: Sycamore Bar, 1118 Cortelyou Road between Stratford and Westminster Roads
What: Flatbush Food Court celebrates July 4th at Sycamore’s backyard, featuring po’boys, tacos, and ceviche from Gustavo’s Salsa.

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest
When: Monday, July 4, main event begins at 12pm, awards ceremony at 1pm
Where: Coney Island, 1310 Surf Avenue
What: Travel south to watch the gluttonous binge-fest, as champion eaters compete in the world famous Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest. In addition, Nathan’s celebrates its 100th anniversary, with music and entertainment all day long at this free southern Brooklyn event.
