Though this week will be short and sweet, it’s packed with Ditmas Park nightlife options. Whether you’re looking for a multicultural shopping bazaar, an outdoor traveling shakespeare play, or a nocturnal bat-walk — this is your spot for the hottest events in Ditmas Park. Coney Island Avenue Chand Raat Bazaar TONIGHT!
When: Tuesday, July 5 from 5pm to midnight
Where: Coney Island Avenue between Avenue H and Glenwood Road
What: Celebrate the “night of the moon,” with an outdoor celebration and shopping bazaar for Eid al-Fitr, a three-day holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, sponsored by the American Council of Minority Women. Note: Heavy traffic expected all evening around Coney Island Avenue, choose an alternative driving route.
How Much: Free to attend

Music Trivia and Live Music
When: Tuesday, July 5; trivia at 7pm, music begins at 9:30pm
Where: Bar Chord, 10008 Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and Stratford Road
What: Kick off the week with music trivia hosted by Shane and Ruth, followed by a show by singer-songwriter Janet Burgan, returning to Bar Chord for a residency.
How Much: No cover charge

Kids Create art event
When: Tuesday, July 5 from 4pm to 5pm
Where: Cortelyou Public Library, 1305 Cortelyou Road at Argyle Road
What: Kids get out of camp early on Tuesdays? Head out to the Cortelyou Library for free arts and crafts projects all summer long! For more information, call the library at 718-693-7763

A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Prospect Park
When: First performance is Wednesday, July 6 at 7pm. Shows continue from July 6–10th.
Where: North end of the Prospect Park Long Meadow, enter the Park at Grand Army Plaza.
What: The New York Classical Theatre returns to Prospect Park for a free, outdoor performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Make sure to catch the beginning of the show at the north end of the Long Meadow at 7pm, because the audience will follow performers as they travel through the park during the 120-minute show (about the distance of 3 city blocks). Note: also don’t bring too much stuff with you! For inclement weather, check here for updates.

Creatures of the night bat walk
When: Thursday, July 7 from 7pm to 9pm
Where: Prospect Park Audubon Center, enter the park at Lincoln Road
What: Come see the nightlife scene Prospect Park with naturalist Paul Keim. Nibble on wine and cheese with Paul during a talk about the ecological role played by bats and nocturnal insects, then spot them for yourself on a walking tour. This event is 21+
How Much: $25 per person, pre-registration is required but cash-only accepted at the door.

Red Baraat’s Brooklyn Mela
When: Thursday, June 7 at 7:30pm
Where: Prospect Park Bandshell, enter the park at 9th street and Prospect Park West
What: Dhol player Sunny Jain and Red Baraat promise to electrify the bandshell with South Asian sounds, making for a great Thursday night outdoors.
How Much: Free

Q-Train: Ditmas Park’s LGBTQ Party
When: Thursday, July 7 at 8pm and every first Thursday of the month
Where: Sycamore Bar, 1118 Cortelyou Road between Stratford and Westminster Roads.
What: The only flower shop-bar in town hosts the biggest LGBTQ party in town. Come by at 8pm for bingo games hosted by Ariel Speedwagon; 9pm for a special performance; and 10pm for DJ Go Go Gadget’s set.
How Much: No cover charge.
