Dewey Staff, Students Create Video Defending School

The above video, which we found via website Gotham Schools, was produced by John Dewey High School teacher Phil Luchun. It features statistics, teacher commentaries and student testimonials meant to illustrate that Dewey as an academic institution is functional, and has improved in recent years – despite being categorized as a “failing school”.

The short film also highlights the achievements of both groups – such as a robotics team ranked higher than its peers at Brooklyn Tech and Stuyvesant, and individuals – such as one student who won a scholarship from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2011, at the school.
