Democratic Primary Debate Watch Parties in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN—On Wednesday at 9p.m., half of the Democratic presidential candidates will in Miami take the stage for the first debate, and some Brooklyn venues will of course be holding watch parties.

Wednesday’s lineup includes New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, former vagabond New Yorker Beto O’Rourke,  Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, former HUD Secretary Julián Castro, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, Washington Governor Jay Inslee, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio and Rep. John Delaney of Maryland.

On Thursday evening, Brooklyn-born Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders will debate alongside New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, as well as former Vice President Joe Biden, California Senator Kamala Harris, South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Rep. Eric Swalwell of California, Colorado Senator Michael Bennet, Andrew Yang and Marianne Williamson.

Both debates will air on NBC, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Here are some places in Brooklyn where you can watch:

Wednesday

—The Brooklyn NAACP branch will host a watch party from 8:30-11:00PM at Swingz Restaurant, which is located at 1542 Fulton St. More info here.

—At The Craic, located at 488 Driggs Ave., New Yorkers for Tulsi will host a watch party from 7:30 p.m. to  11:30 p.m. You can register here.

Warren supporters have several choices for the first night. At 121 Columbia Street, the Warren campaign is hosting a watch party. Event info here. In addition, at Anyone Comics, at 1216 Union St., Warren supporters will gather to watch the debate. More here. There’s also a debate watch party for Warren supporters at 823 Classon Ave.

Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn will be hosting a watch party at Fulton Ale House (1446 Fulton Street) beginning at 9 p.m. More information here.

The Harris campaign will be hosting a watch party at Syndicated, located at 40 Bogart Street. Event page here.

Thursday

At Circa Brewing Co, located at 141 Lawrence street, beginning at 8 p.m., the Democratic National Committee will host alongside the Brooklyn Young Democrats and other groups. More info here.

Sanders supporters have at least three options in Brooklyn for the debate in which he will appear.

The Sanders campaign is hosting a Brooklyn watch party at Caffeine Underground, which is at 447 Central Ave. RSVP here. There is also a Sanders supporter watch party at 424 East 9th Street in Kensington. More info here. And the Democratic Socialists of America are hosting a watch party, which begins at 9 p.m., at The Well (272 Meserole Street).
