Delays At Slope Park Push Back Opening To June
Slope Park

A number of you have expressed concern over the delays at Slope Park, originally slated for a spring 2013 completion. We’ve finally received some information, thanks to Concerned Citizens of Greenwood Heights, on why the progress has stalled, and when we can expect to see our kids playing on the updated grounds.

According to The Parks Department, a design change to the playground’s base material, asbestos and a damaged flue pipe in the comfort station, and contractor delays following Hurricane Sandy, have pushed the completion date into June.

As one who has been anxiously awaiting the reopening of our local play space, this is obviously not the best news we could have hoped for. We’ve contacted Councilwoman Sara Gonzalez for her thoughts on the delay, but have yet to receive a response.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated as the construction crawls on.
