Deceased Man Found Following Bed-Stuy Fire Was Murdered, Police Say
BEDFORD-STUYVESANT – The NYPD announced today that a deceased man found inside a Bed-Stuy building following a fire in September was murdered.
At approximately 9:30am on Saturday, September 30, police responded to a call of a fire at a residential building located at 466 Chauncey Street. After the FDNY extinguished the fire, officers discovered the body of 60-year-old Alvin Thomas inside the building.
EMS pronounced Thomas dead at the scene. Following an examination, the Medical Examiner has determined the cause of Thomas’ death was homicide.
No arrests have been made yet and the investigation is ongoing.
