The Day: A Winter Storm Warning, Deli Food and Atlantic Yards News
Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
If you haven’t heard the news, we’re expecting lots of snow between today and tomorrow. A winter storm warning begins at noon today and lasts until 6 a.m. tomorrow, when we should expect accumulations of between 6 and 10 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service. If you’re out taking in the wintry scenery, don’t forget to snap some photos and add them to The Nabe’s Flickr group.
Here’s more news to start your day:
- Did you make it out to the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration? If you missed out, the Brooklyn Paper was there to get this slideshow of the event. Mayor Bill deBlasio, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and Sen. Chuck Schumer were among those who attended – praising Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and advocating their current agendas.
- The grand opening of Peck’s happened last week and Brooklyn Based stopped in to sample and review the fare. The blog says the jewish deli resembles many of the gourmet food options in the nabe, such as the Greene Grape, but its old-school food heritage sets it apart. Have you stopped in the new spot? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
- We got a wrap of what to expect at Atlantic Yards in 2014 from the Atlantic Yards Report. Although some say news about the project is trending down, according to the blog, there’s lots to expect this year, including a court-ordered Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement and increasing pressure to build affordable housing.
