The Day: Stoop Stories, Themed Trivia and Dance
Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
The warm weather’s persisting, with a high today of 71 degrees and a week of weather in the 70s, according to the National Weather Service. If you’re headed out after sundown though, make sure to carry a coat, as nighttime temperatures continue to drop, promising a swift passage into winter.
- As part of their Stoop Series, BRIC presents “Two Truths and a Lie”, a night where eight storytellers spout their fiction and non-fiction, all centered on the same theme. Come tonight and you’ll have to spot the myth; for every two honest storytellers there’s a fraud and it’s the audience’s job to discern who’s insincere. The free event starts at 7 p.m. at BRIC House, 647 Fulton Street.
- Are you a Trivial Pursuit champion? Head over to Lola BKLYN at 8:30 p.m. for its weekly trivia night and unload all your useless facts. Each week’s trivia revolves around a theme chosen by the public on Lola BKLYN’s Facebook page, so vote here before heading over to the bar at 387 Myrtle Avenue.
- If you’re feeling like more of a mover than a listener, the Brooklyn Academy of Music is offering a dance workshop and performance over the next two days. Today at noon join choreographer John Heginbotham for a three-hour modern technique class. It will cost you $25, or $45 if you attend also his second workshop on Oct. 17. If you just want to sit back and observe, check out tomorrow night’s New York premiere of “Come, and Back Again” by David Dorfman Dance, as part of BAM’s Next Wave Festival. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets will run you between $14 to $50. If you miss tomorrow night’s performance, Dorfman’s dancers are onstage through Oct. 19.
