We’re getting close to Valentine’s Day here in the nabe. Though the temperatures will remain frosty through next week, according to the National Weather Service, you’ve still got the chance to heat up your love life locally. Check back for our list of local spots to kindle a flame in your date’s heart.

  • 57th District Assemblyman Walter T. Mosley makes his first annual State of the District address tonight in Medgar Evers College’s Founders Auditorium at 1650 Bedford Avenue. If you want to be there in person for the 6:30 p.m. speech, be sure to RSVP as soon as possible to (718) 596-0100.
  • Get your local basketball fix 7 p.m. tonight, when the Long Island University Brooklyn Blackbirds take on the Robert Morris University Colonials at the Steinberg Wellness Center. Tickets for the game, which will also be nationally televised on ESPNU, are being distributed on a first come, first served basis for local fans.   • Got some extra money after doing your taxes? You can use that refund to help the Greene Hill School by heading to “The Greene Affair” auction on Friday night at 8 p.m. $50 tickets for the event include hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, entertainment and auction exclusives. If you want to start bidding early on auction items check out the full list, including lunch with Morgan Spurlock and an autographed Eli Manning football.
