Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

We hope you enjoyed the weekend; we saw some of you took advantage of the warmer weather to snap some pictures around the neighborhood. The sunny weather continues today, with a high temperature of 64 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Here’s some local news to start your week:

  • Police are searching for a gunman who shot an employee of Clean Society Cleaner on Grand Avenue near Clifton Place on Thursday afternoon, reported The Brooklyn Paper and Gothamist. The shooter is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and 155 pounds, wearing a black skullcap, blue jeans and a blue shirt, according to police. The employee was taken to the Brooklyn Hospital Center, police said. Neighbors say that the store and surrounding area is a well-known corner for drug-dealing.
  • Fort Greene-based business Carol’s Daughter has filed for bankruptcy, reported The Brooklyn Reader. The company, once featured on Oprah, was founded in 1993 and was one of the first companies to focus on natural skin and hair care for African Americans.
  • A Clinton Hill playroom for children with special needs has been shut down since vandals caused $1,500 of damage on Easter, reported the New York Daily News. Extreme Kids and Crew, located at the Crispus Attucks playground on Fulton Street, is seeking donations to help cover the cost of repairs, which include damages to a ball pit and decorations.
