Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

We hope you got a chance to enjoy the spring weather this weekend, despite the occasional spots of rain. Today should be another gorgeous spring day in the neighborhood, with clear skies and temperatures in the high 60s, according to the National Weather Service.

Here’s some local news to start your week.

  • Police are searching for a gunman who wounded a 34-year-old man in the stomach on Friday afternoon near Ashland Place and Willoughby Street, reported News 12 Brooklyn. Police say the man was shot twice and is being treated at Kings County Hospital. The man is expected to survive.
  • Three local eateries – Primrose Cafe, Fort Grace ice cream shop and Mike’s Coffee Shop – were featured by the New York Daily News in its “Eating Along the G Line” series. What’s your favorite neighborhood restaurant along the subway line, locals?
  • The Prison Ship Martyrs’ Monument in Fort Greene Park is closer to getting national monument status, reported the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed
the Prison Ship Martyrs’ Monument Preservation Act, sponsored by Representative Hakeem Jeffries. The bill, which is next up for vote by the Senate, would direct the Department of the Interior to study the feasibility of designating the Prison Ship Martyrs’ Monument as a national monument.
