Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

You better not forget to bundle up today, as we enter a deep freeze that has us adding extra layers. A low temperature of 8 degrees will only warm to 13 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Additionally, there is a strong wind advisory for gusts up to 50 mph and a wind chill advisory in place until 6 p.m. tonight. Let us know in the comments what your tricks are to stay warm.

Here’s more news to begin the day:

  • A watershed of rising real estate costs has resulted in a 13 percent jump in prices for North Brooklyn and Brownstone Brooklyn homes, Brownstoner reported. The prices – compiled in a 2013 housing sales report released by real estate firm Ideal Properties Group – are a result of bidding wars, which led to higher home selling prices. Houses in Clinton Hill earned at least 100 percent of listing prices, while those in Fort Greene garnered more than 104 percent.
  • If you’re expecting to do any evening travel using the G train this week, you’ll need to make other plans, according to the Brooklyn Paper. The train will be shut down between the Bedford–Nostrand station and the end of the line at Church Avenue in Kensington. Expect the overnight closings, part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority‘s Fast Track repair program, to end Jan. 10.
  • If you’re looking to take in a game at the Barclays Center but also need to get a trim, a new barbershop opening in the arena has everything you need, DNAinfo reported. Stop by the main concourse and you’ll find Lower East Side shop Fellow Barbers, where you can get a haircut cleanup for just $10.
