The Day: FAB Friday Nights, Bike Classes and a Spike Lee Film Series at BAM

Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

This weekend should be sunny and mild with temperatures in the low 70s, according to the National Weather Service. But don’t put away your umbrella just yet, as there’s a slight chance of showers later today.

If you’re looking for a way to kick off your weekend in the neighborhood, head down to Fowler Square between Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue tonight for FAB Friday Nights, which features a free concert by singer-songwriter Herve Gaspard this week. Long Island University Brooklyn will host a summer camp open house tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet the faculty members and coaches who will teach children aged 3 to 12 robotics, Spanish, video game design and more. You’ll also be able to learn about new sports camps in basketball, soccer and swimming. Register for camp tomorrow and receive a $150 discount.
Get ready for biking this summer with free classes and workshops from the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership. If you just learned how to ride a bike, register for their adult class tomorrow at Commodore Barry Park at 10 a.m. by calling (718) 230-1689 or visiting www.myrtleavenue.org. The Brooklyn Academy of Music will host a retrospective of Fort Greene native Spike Lee’s films starting on June 29, reported DNAinfo. BAM will be screening 16 of his films, including his master’s thesis project on a barbershop in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
