The Day: Divorce Papers, Dragons of Zynth and Skillshares
Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill,
There’s a chance of rain today, with highs in the mid 40s, according to the National Weather Service. But hopefully the March showers will bring April flowers as we slowly creep towards seasonable spring weather.
Here’s some events to plan out your week:
- Susan Rieger takes a look at the correspondence between former spouses in her first novel, “The Divorce Papers,” at Greenlight Bookstore tonight. She will take the stage to talk about her new book alongside her daughter, local author Maggie Pouncey. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. at 686 Fulton Street for this free event.
- Ready for some psych rock? Local band Dragons of Zynth will be at the BRIC House Studio tomorrow night as part of Brooklyn Independent Media’s B-Side series. Come check out this free concert, followed by an interview with the band. The doors open at 7 p.m. at 647 Fulton Street, but space is limited if you want to join the studio audience. Worried about missing the show? If you don’t get a seat, head on next door to the Hungry Ghost Café, where the performance will be live streamed.
- Ever wanted to learn how to apply makeup for the stage and screen? How about understanding the theory behind reggae? Or are you looking for dating advice from a life coach? These are just a sample of the free workshops offered by the Brooklyn Young Filmmakers this Friday at the first night of the SkillShare project. Have a skill the you would like to share at a future event? Just fill out this questionnaire. To sign up for this Friday’s workshops, you can RSVP here. The SkillShare will go from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ingersoll Community Center on 177 Myrtle Avenue.
