Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

We hope that you had a chance to enjoy the warmer weather around the neighborhood this weekend, locals. Mild temperatures in the 40s and 50s will continue today and tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service. If you’re out taking advantage of the spring thaw, take some pictures and upload them to The Nabe’s Flickr pool.

Here’s some local news to start your week:

  • Community Board 2’s general meeting is coming up on Wednesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. If you want to attend, head to the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Fisher Building, 321 Ashland Place, between Lafayette Avenue and Hanson Place. Get there early for your front row seat.
  • Spike Lee’s remarks on gentrification in the neighborhood, especially his comparison of Fort Greene Park to the Westminster Kennel Club dog show, continue to provoke a response from locals, reported the New York Post. Local dog owners said walking their dogs in the park made them feel like a part of the neighborhood.
  • New York City’s oldest resident celebrated his 112th birthday yesterday at his home in Clinton Hill, reported the New York Post. Ernest Peronneau attributes his longevity to “clean living,” according to his great-grand niece, who said her great-great uncle never smoked or drank alcohol.
