Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

We hope you enjoyed this weekend’s warm temperatures, locals, especially since colder weather will return to the neighborhood this week, according to the National Weather Service. Winter is not quite through with us yet; there’s a chance of snow on Wednesday.

Here’s some local news to start off your week:

  • Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Friday that the city has begun moving 400 children and their families out of the Auburn Family Residence in Fort Greene and the Catherine Street shelter in Lower Manhattan, reported The New York Times and Newsday. The city will try to locate subsidized permanent housing or temporary shelter for the families, and will convert the Auburn and Catherine Street shelters to adult family shelters. State and city inspectors have cited the Auburn shelter for more than 400 violations, including mold, lead, vermin, a non-working fire safety system, insufficient child care and the presence of sexual predators.
  • Community Board 2 will hold its monthly executive and education committee meetings tonight and Wednesday respectively. Both meetings will be held at 6 p.m. in the Jonas Board Room in Metcalfe Hall at Long Island University on Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues.
  • Local fans can come cheer on the LIU women’s basketball team as they shoot for a spot in the Northeast Conference playoffs tonight. The game against the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights starts at 7 p.m. at the Steinberg Wellness Center.
