Cymbrowitz's Turkey Warehouse
Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz’ office was turned into a “turkey warehouse” last Friday as he distributed 100 turkeys to local community organizations and the area’s police precincts and firehouses to help make Thanksgiving a little more cheerful for those in need. Those organizations will give the frozen turkeys to families who would have gone without turkeys this Thanksgiving.
“While we live in a prosperous community, there are residents who are having difficulty making ends meet. It is important that especially at Thanksgiving, a time of family get-togethers, we think of others. I am happy that these turkeys will not only be a meal for these families, but also communicate the message that others care about them,” Cymbrowitz stated.
The Thanksgiving turkey giveaway has become an annual tradition for Assemblyman Cymbrowitz. “This is really a year long effort as the police officers, firefighters and community organization staffers keep my turkey distribution in the back of their minds as they identify families in need when they come in contact with them throughout the year.”
In addition to distributing the frozen turkeys in his office, Assemblyman Cymbrowitz and his staff visited senior centers in his district over the past few weeks presenting Stop and Shop gift cards for turkeys to the winners of raffles conducted at each center. This enables the seniors to purchase either a turkey or other ingredients for their Thanksgiving dinner.
Donations were contributed by Health Plus, Stop and Shop, and Forest City Ratner Companies.
