Crime Blotter: Fire at Kings Plaza Mall, Robbery Via Police Impersonation & More

MARINE PARK  — Police are reporting a 6-alarm fire on Monday at the Kings Plaza Mall parking lot. The fire started on the second floor of the parking lot where six cars are on fire, according to police.

FDNY, the 63rd Pct. and other NYPD officials are on the scene. No further details are available as the incident is currently pending investigation.

GRAVESEND — Police are looking for five suspects connected with a robbery reported in Gravesend last week.

Following a dispute at 4:30 am on Monday, September 10, the suspects allegedly assaulted a 23-year-old male in front of 24-Hour Kings Express Deli & Grocery on the corner of Kings Hwy and McDonald Ave. During the assault, the suspects removed two chains from the victim’s neck and $160 from his pants pocket. The victim suffered bruising to his face and was taken to Coney Island Hospital in serious but stable condition.

  • The first suspect is a male, Hispanic, with a beard and his hair in a bun. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweater.
  • The second susepct is a male, Hispanic, last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans.
  • The third suspect is a male, Hispanic, last seen wearing a black and blue hooded jacket.
  • The fourth suspect is a male, Hispanic, last seen wearing a red hooded sweater.
  • The fifth suspect is a light-skinned male with a beard, last seen wearing a gray hooded coat.

DITMAS PARK  — Police are looking for three suspects, one of whom impersonated a police officer, in connection with two robberies on Friday, August 31.

The three men attempted to enter an apartment in a building near Ocean Ave. and Albemarle Rd. One of the suspects allegedly displayed a badge and gun demanding to see video surveillance footage and removed a computer and a DVR from the apartment, according to police.

The three then entered the apartment of a 39-year-old male victim removing $260 from the premises.

The suspects are described as Black, in their late 30’s, last seen fleeing the scene in a black vehicle.

WILLIAMSBURG  — Police are looking for a suspect in connection with a subway station mugging on the “J” line in Williamsburg.

At approximately 11:20am on Friday, August 17, an unidentified man grabbed the wallet of 63-year-old male victim while he was exiting the Lorimer Street station. No injuries were reported. The wallet contained $300 and credit cards, according to police.

The suspect is described as a male, Hispanic, with a light complexion, approximately 20- to 30-years-old, with short black hair, brown eyes, and a medium build.  He was last seen wearing a white shirt, red shorts, white socks and black sandals.

BED-STUY – Police are looking for the man seen in the below video in connection to an incident on Friday, September 14 in which a Molotov cocktail was thrown in front of a barber shop located at 160 Ralph Avenue.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:40am and caused damage to the shop’s front door. After throwing the object, the suspect ran southbound on Ralph Avenue and got into a light colored four door sedan. The sedan then headed eastbound on Macon Street. No injuries were reported.

The NYPD describe the suspect as a male with a medium build, approximately 6′ tall. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants.
