Credit Cards Stolen At The Greene Grape Annex Were Used To Go On A Haute Shopping Spree

There’s been another attack of thieving fashionistas at the Greene Grape Annex (753 Fulton Street) and cops are asking for help in finding the two unknown male culprits, police say.

The sticky-fingered sartorialists struck at 5:20pm on June 27 at the cafe, when a 40 year-old woman’s wallet went missing, according to police, who couldn’t specify if the wallet was lost or stolen. Cops say her credit cards were subsequently used to make six sets of unauthorized purchases, totaling thousands of dollars.

The woman became aware that she’d been separated from her wallet when she got home, only to find a string of credit card alerts.

The NYPD says the woman didn’t report her wallet missing until June 29, at which point cops obtained surveillance footage in which they spotted a man at the Annex with the woman’s wallet at the same time as the victim’s visit two days prior.

Cops also obtained surveillance photos that show an unknown man using the credit cards to spend $310 at the outdoor goods store Fjallraven (262 Mott Street).

That’s just one of the one of the many stops along the spending spree, according to cops:

  • First came $1,293 at Second Time Around, a consignment shop located at 53-55 East Houston Street, on June 27 at 4:17pm. This included a $600 Jérôme Dreyfuss bag, per cops. We find spending $600 on _any_ Jérôme Dreyfuss a little specious.
  • A mere five minutes later came the aforementioned purchase at Fjallraven, which included a windbreaker and a t-shirt.
  • At a little after 4:30pm, the credit cards found there way to the shoe store Coclicio (275 Mott Street), where a $270 pair of footwear was charged.
  • Mere minutes later, the cards were used to spend over $1,000 at the apothecary Space NK (31 Prince Street). Cops say purchases included Queen of Hungary beauty products.
  • Having worked up an appetite from their shop-til-you-drop spree, the cards were used to spend $53.89 at Clew Z Angus, a restaurant at 15 Greenwich Street.

Cops don’t see a connection between this incident and a similar incident that occurred in May.
