Crash On 7th Avenue Involving 18-Wheeler And Sanitation Truck Causes ‘Massive Boom’

A multi-vehicle crash that took place early Saturday morning on 7th Avenue resulted in three smashed cars, however no serious injuries resulted from the incident.

The FDNY was called to the scene on Saturday, September 24 at approximately 2:15am near the intersection of 7th Avenue and 1st Street in front of Bareburger (170 7th Avenue) and Starbucks (166 7th Avenue), and just across the street from P.S. 321.

According to an FDNY spokesperson, two individuals involved in the incident were taken to Methodist Hospital. Police confirmed the injuries were not life-threatening.

Neighbor Cody Nason described the sound as a “massive boom” after a sanitation truck slammed into at least two parked cars.

The incident also involved an 18-wheeler and a car which was traveling south on 7th Avenue when it was hit on the driver-side.

Although a parked vehicle in the incident was forced onto the sidewalk, nearby storefronts were not damaged.

The cause of accident is still under investigation, according to a police spokesperson.
