Community Board 14 Meeting
When: Monday, November 14 at 7:30pm.
Where: Edward Murrow High School, East 17th street between Avenues L and M.
What: Tonight, attend the CB 14 general board meeting, updating neighbors on a range of topics, including transportation, public safety, youth services, and more.
How Much: Free
Scorpio party at Sycamore
When: Monday, November 14 at 8pm.
Where: Sycamore Bar, 1118 Cortelyou Road between Stratford and Westminster Roads.
What: Come out for tarot, palm readings, rune stones, and all night happy hour (for Scorpios) at Sycamore’s Star Sign party, second Monday of every month.
How Much: Free, but don’t forget drinks at the bar.
Free Creative Writing for Adults
When: Tuesday, November 15 at 6:15pm.
Where: Cortelyou Public Library, 1305 Cortelyou Road at Argyle Road.
What: Looking to hone your creative writing skills in a supportive environment? Or share your writing with a group of other writers? Join the New York Writers Coalition for this weekly class at the Cortelyou Library, and find that writers community you’ve been looking for. (No prior experience necessary — that does sound supportive)

Civil and Human Rights Speak Out in Crown Heights
When: Wednesday, November 16 at 6pm.
Where: St Francis de Sales School for the Deaf, 260 Eastern Parkway between Classon and Franklin Avenues.
What: Join Senator Jesse Hamilton and a panel of civil and human rights experts to discuss what a Trump presidency means for the community. RSVP here.

Gemma Ray at the Owl Music Parlor
When: Wednesday, November 16 at 8pm (doors at 7:30).
Where: The Owl Music Parlor, 497 Rogers Avenue between Midwood and Maple Streets.
What: Check out British sensation Gemma Ray, a musician/songwriter/producer that is “blazing her own silvertone trail”.
How Much: $15 advance, $18 at the door.
Cortelyou at Twilight tasting event
When: Thursday, November 17 from 5:30pm to 9pm.
Where: Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and East 17th Street.
What: Sample some of the best food and drink offerings on Cortelyou Road, featuring more than 30 local restaurants, bars, and specialty shops. Hosted by the Flatbush Development Corporation, proceeds go to the Cortelyou Road Merchants Association (CORMA) toward additional street maintenance.
How Much: $25 advance purchase, $20 for kids 20 and under, or $30 at the ‘door’ (aka the Cortelyou Library Plaza) — cash only.
Suzette Sundae & the Lovelifes at Bar Chord
When: Thursday, November 17 at 9pm.
Where: Bar Chord, 1003 Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and Stratford Road.
What: After enjoying the Cortelyou Twilight, check out the rockability roots musical stylings of Suzette Sundae & the Lovelifes at Bar Chord.
How Much: Free show, but don’t forget to get drinks at the bar and tip the musicians.
Pop-up Magazine at the Kings Theater
When: Thursday, November 17 at 7:30pm.
Where: The Kings Theater, 1027 Flatbush Avenue between Tilden Avenue and Duryea Place.
What: This unique event is a live magazine — true stories, films, photography, and radio from some of our favorite writers, performers, and musicians — like Ira Glass, Joshuah Bearman, Lam Thuy Vo, Jessica Hopper, Jordan Kisner, Tina Antolini, Jamie Meltzer, Mychal Denzel Smith, Ben & Rhonda Partian, Stephanie Foo, and Evgenia Arbugaeva.

PS 130’s Art Auction at Lark
When: Friday, November 18th from 6:30 to 9:30pm. Bid online beginning November 14th here.
Where: Lark Cafe, 1007 Church Avenue between East 10th Street and Stratford Road.
What: Bid on art for a good cause at PS 130’s 4th annual Fall Art Auction, featuring work by local artists. This one-night event raises money to supply art materials for all classrooms. Last year, 70 pieces were donated raising more than $10,000. For more information, email ps130art2gmail.com.
