CORRECTION: Police Say Suspect Demanded Money And Threatened To Set Bronx Prospect Avenue Subway Booth On Fire

CORRECTION: As per a tweet from the 72nd Street Precinct, we have been informed that the event was reported incorrectly. The Prospect Avenue subway station the incident took place at is located in the Bronx, not the stop in Brooklyn.

Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly attempted to rob an MTA subway clerk at the Prospect Avenue subway station in the Bronx on the evening of Sunday, November 22.

According to NY1, investigators say that a man approached a clerk at the subway booth and showed a threatening note which demanded money,

Police say that the suspect then allegedly poured an unidentified liquid into the money slot and held up a lighter.

According to the cops, the subway clerk blocked the opening in the booth and pressed the emergency button that signals the police. The suspect then ran off.

The police describe the suspect as last seen wearing black clothing, white gloves, and a scarf which covered his face. The suspect was also carrying a blue and black bag.

We have reached out to the 72nd Precinct and have not yet heard back. We will provide any updates when we receive them.
