Cops Searching For Truck Driver Who Struck & Killed Bicyclist On Avenue U

Police are searching for a truck driver who sped away after fatally striking a 54-year-old bicyclist on Avenue U Tuesday night.

According to the NYPD, the driver was traveling west on Avenue U at 5pm when he hit the bicyclist, who was riding parallel to the truck, near the intersection of East 9th Street.

The driver did not remain at the scene and police told the Daily News they are not sure if he even realized that he hit someone.

The NYPD identified the rider as Can Reng Ma, of Bensonhurst. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police continue to investigate the crash.

Update [January 21, 11am]: Cops arrested 31-year-old Junior Hicks, of Queens, on Wednesday and charged him with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with a death involved.
