Cops Searching For Thief Who Swiped Wallet From Avenue U Deli

Police are searching for an opportunistic thief who swiped a wallet from a jacket hanging in an Avenue U deli last week.

Cops say the suspect entered the deli, at the corner of East 16th Street, on Tuesday at noon. He reached into a jacket that had been hung up in the store and grabbed a wallet from one of the pockets, according to the police. The wallet contained a debit card, identification, and an undetermined amount of cash.

The NYPD provided a surveillance photo of the suspect.
