Cops Search For Pair In String Of Storefront Burglaries In Sunset Park

Cops are searching for two suspects connected with five early morning burglaries in Sunset Park this month, who nabbed almost $13,000 from local businesses.

The first strike happened at Hot Space, 774 51st Street near 8th Avenue, on Tuesday, May 30 at 4:30am, said cops. The suspect forced open the basement door but he fled empty-handed.

On Monday, June 3 at 4:25am, he struck at DCPLZZ Seafood, 770 59th Street, said cops. This time he nabbed $2,000 in cash from the register and Heineken beer. He was able to get in by breaking the security gate and walking through the unlocked door.

Then on Thursday, June 8 at 2:40am, the suspect forced open the front door at Wellcare Adult Day Care at 5515 7th Avenue, and Happy Family Grocery Inc. at 5402 7th Avenue. The suspect had a female lookout, but they weren’t able to get in.

On Sunday, June 11 just before 4am they hit Hotpot, at 811 53rd Street, said cops. They broke the front gate and stole $8,000 in cash from the register.

On Tuesday, June 20 at 5am the suspect broke into Mr. Q’s, 5302 8th Avenue, through the kitchen door, stealing by $2,900 in cash from the register, beer, and an iPad mini.

The suspects are described by police as a man with dark skin wearing red sneakers and a hoodie and a woman with a duffel bag on her shoulders wearing her hair in a bun.
