Police have shared surveillance photos of a man wanted for turning a gun on a McDonald’s cashier earlier this week, in what we hope is a copycat crime inspired by the company’s lovable, recently relaunched Hamburglar character.

As we’ve reported, the suspect entered the McDonald’s at 3549 Nostrand Avenue just before 11pm on Monday, November 16, and ordered a Big Mac, cops said. When the employee asked for payment, the perp allegedly drew a firearm and demanded money from the register.

(Editor’s note: The man below is not the suspect.)

The police report states that the man did not make off with any valuables — including, presumably, the burger he ordered.

“I would assume that a Big Mac would be considered a valuable,” said a spokesperson for the NYPD.

The suspect is described as a black man, between 18 and 21 years old, approximately six feet tall and 190 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing at the time of the attempted robbery.

Personally, we think McDonald’s should make this alleged hamburger thief the face of its next ad campaign.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577.
