Police say they have caught the thief who has been ripping off houses of worship all over Southwest Brooklyn – including one in Bensonhurst.

Back in November, we reported that a burglar robbed Church of the Holy Spirit at 8117 Bay Parkway – among at least 11 other churches – making off with an HP laptop and cash.

Well, it seems the burglar’s luck has finally run out. At 2:30am Thursday morning, cops finally caught him in the act.

The New York Post reports:

An unholy thief believed to be linked to several church break-ins was caught in the act in a place of worship in Brooklyn Thursday, police sources said.
Jesus Soler,50, was nabbed on 59th Street near 7th Avenue in Sunset Park around 2:30 a.m. with two laptops in tow, police sources said.
He allegedly pried open a side door at the St. Lutheran Brethren church with a large screw driver and swiped the laptops, cops said.

Along with the stolen laptops, police found a screw driver in Soler’s back pocket. Though police believe that he is to blame for the other church robberies, so far he has only been charged with this incident.
