Cops Link Suspect To Three Daytime Robberies In Coney Island
Police are after a man they say assaulted several women before snatching their purses in broad daylight.
The first incident occurred On Wednesday, October 28, 1:05pm, when the suspect approached a 54-year-old woman from behind at West 28 Street near Mermaid Avenue and tried to take her pocketbook, according the NYPD. When she resisted, the crook the punched his victim in the head causing her to let go of the bag, which contained several credit cards.
Cops say the suspect struck again on Sunday, November 1, 9:30am, this time approaching a 40-year-old woman as she was entering her building on West 31 Street. The man asked her to open the lobby door and once he was inside, he pushed her against the wall and removed her pocketbook, which included credit cards and her iPhone.
Then on Monday, November 9, at 1:03pm, the suspect followed a third female victim, 63, onto the elevator of her building on West 33 Street, say police. Once inside the elevator, the suspect pushed the victim against the wall and then put his hand over her mouth. The suspect then snatched the victim’s cash-filled bag.
Police have shared surveilance footage of the suspect.
